Our Story

The Downtown Pittston Partnership, a non-profit organization, is dedicated to the revitalization of Downtown Pittston through various activities, programs, and aesthetic enhancements. Our primary goal is to enhance the quality of life for Pittston's residents and workers. Celebrating the city's central location, diverse ethnic backgrounds, local arts, and strong partnerships, we aim to attract businesses, activities, and people to the downtown area.

Mary Kroptavich

Main Street Manager

 

Mary has been the Main Street Manager for the Downtown Pittston Partnership for over 5 years. Her involvement with the City of Pittston began as a volunteer. She quickly established solid and lasting relationships within the business community, spearheading numerous initiatives to revitalize the city, enhance local businesses, and promote cultural events. Her efforts have enriched Pittston's cultural tapestry and spurred economic growth and community engagement.

As the Main Street Manager, she has been recognized statewide for her innovative creation and execution of the City's Shop with a Cop program, further highlighting her commitment to community welfare and youth engagement. She also acts as the Executive Director of the City’s Art Gallery which hosts several talented artists and holds events for city residents. The Downtown Pittston Partnership, which she is also the Executive Director, is responsible for all the collaborative and engaging events that happen in Pittston City. Her active engagement in these organizations reflects her dedication. She continues to make significant contributions that further the city's mission of engaging and uplifting residents and the community

Cara Wengen

Main Street Coordinator

 

Cara joined the City of Pittston in 2021 as the Community Development Specialist and assisted with managing city-owned properties, executed administrative duties for the Redevelopment Authority, Housing Authority, NEPA Land Bank and Main Street program, and coordinated and implemented several new initiatives such as Pride in Place, Monthly Matters and more.

After a brief hiatus, Cara returned to the City in Summer of 2023 as the Communications Manager and Main Street Coordinator. Her everyday responsibilities include communicating City updates with press and media, managing all city websites and social media outlets and assisting in the planning and execution of all city events. Cara is also responsible for all public-facing city publications and branding materials. As assistant director of the city’s Art E Fekts gallery, she communicates with artists, manages all retail responsibilities and also plans all programming and special events for this space.
